Press Release N° 009-2020-KENÉ
After a year of intelligence investigations, at dawn on August 25, 2020, almost 180 official from the High Complexity Investigations Department of the Peruvian National Police – DIVIAC, and 25 Anticorruption Public Prosecutor’s managed to identify, capture and break up the “Hostile Forces from the Amazonian”, Criminal Organization dedicated to the illegal logging, laundering and timber trafficking, aggravated environmental crimes, from Puerto Maldonado to other Peruvian regions.
As of August 27, 2020, DIVIAC intervened 18 people under investigation for environmental crimes: 03 Former Officials of the Regional Forest and Wildlife Directorate of the Regional Government of Madre de Dios, 09 Public Servants of the Forest Checkpoints designated by the Regional Forest and Wildlife Directorate of GOREMAD, 04 members of the Peruvian National Police, 01 official of the Tax Administration Office (SUNAT), and 01 timber trafficker.
DIVIAC also broke into 21 dwellings: 20 in the Tambopata, Inambari, and Las Piedras districts, Tambopata state – Madre de Dios, and 01 in the Oropesa district – Cusco. Investigations are ongoing
